The Israeli Foreign Ministry and its National Security Council issued a joint statement on Thursday urging all Israelis staying abroad to take extra care tomorrow ( Friday, October 13, 2023), citing the Hamas terror group’s call on its supporters worldwide to participate in a “day of rage.”
This, the statement says, is expected to include attempted attacks on Israelis and Jews and rallies that might turn violent.
Israelis abroad are recommended to “show alertness, stay away from protests and demonstrations, and if possible get updates from local security forces about possible protests and incidents of unrest around them.”
Hebrew media reports say security will be upped in Israeli embassies worldwide tomorrow.
Another Jewish school in London closes as children are told to ‘stay indoors’
A third Jewish school in London has announced its closure.
Menorah High School, a girls’ secondary school in Neasden, will be closed on Friday.
The principal said the “difficult” decision was taken “because of the risk of violence on the streets”.
A letter to parents added that concerns had been raised by the police for the safety of young people who may “venture outdoors”.
The principal went on: “As the girls are not in school… it is incumbent on you as parents to ensure that your children remain indoors.”
Earlier, we reported that two other Jewish schools in north London were closing their doors “in the interests of the safety of our precious children”.
Torah Vodaas Primary School in Edgware and Ateres Beis Yaakov Primary School in Colindale both informed parents on Thursday evening they would not reopen until Monday.
