Suspected ‘Yahoo Boy’ Kills Policeman, Injures Another In Delta State

A policeman has been reported dead with another seriously wounded in a fatal auto crash along Airport road in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

The injured policeman was rushed to an undisclosed hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.

According to Sapele Olofofo Unugbragada, it was learnt that the policeman from Ugborikoko Police Divisional Headquarters on routine stop-and-search at about 9pm on Thursday flagged down a “Yahoo boy” and his driver.

Rather than stop and clarify himself to the police, the “Yahoo boy” ordered his driver to zoom off.

The policeman, in a bid to arrest the suspected fraudster, dragged the steering with his (Yahoo boy’s) driver who was already on high speed.

The incident led to the fatal accident which claimed the life of the deceased policeman as he was crushed by the car.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police,CP Muhammad Mustafa confirmed the report, disclosing that,”one policeman died. The other was rushed to the hospital. He is severely injured and receiving treatment.”

The menace of suspected “Yahoo boys” is on the increase in Warri and its environs in Delta State.
