The founder of the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo  says it is mandatory for every Christian to pay their tithe.

Speaking to members of Dunamis International Gospel Center in Abuja, he said, “If you don’t pay tithe you are permanently a beggar.

“I’m permanently under an open heaven. Every seed you give to God returns but only tithe secures your destiny. Its tithing that secures your blessing.

“Through the mystery of tithing, you don’t run out of divine ideas. Tithing opens the windows of heaven and pours you quick understandings.”

Bishop Oyedepo has always had the same stance when it comes to the issue of tithing.

He indirectly addressed the subject, while highlighting its importance in a new Youtube video posted by Ovoko TV on November 11, 2017.

In his words, “When an elephant begins to excrete like a cow, he is on the way to the grave. You must release on the level of His blessings in your life or you are your way to the grave.

“As God has blessed everyone, even so, let him give, to the same level let him give so that he can stay alive.

Pastor Enoch A. Adeboye shares the same point of view.

During a Sunday service on November 5, 2017, the Redeemed Church of God (RCCG) G.O advised Christians to ignore the OAP’s comments and pay their tithes.

He basically warned people not to attract God’s curse to by not paying their tithe.

Meanwhile, Daddy Freeze has countered both Men of God on several occasions. According to the OAP, “this is the kind of false preaching that probably plunged us into poverty in the first place!”

This sentiment led to the #free the sheeple movement, a campaign aimed at freeing people from the clutches of preachers who prey upon them.
