Fausat Hammed, a 39-year-old woman has been arraigned before an Ebutte-Meta Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing her neighbour’s two-month-old baby. The infant’s mother, identified as Rafatu Hammed had left the suspect with the baby without suspecting her intention. Realizing the infant’s mother was out of sight, Fausat sneaked out of the house with the baby.
Police prosecutor, Chinalu Uwadione told the court that the accused committed the offence on April 16, 2018 in the Ijora Badiya area of Lagos state. He said the offence contravened and punishable under Section 277 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state, 2015.
The defendant pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the lone count charge of theft.
Presiding magistrate, O.A. Adegite admitted the accused to a bail of N400,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned till May 23, 2018 for mention.
