The appointment of Crown Prince Eheneden Erediauwa as the new Oba of Benin has been approved by the government of Edo State. Oba Eheneden succeeds his father whose transition was announced by the Iyase of Benin Kingdom, Chief Sam Igbe few weeks ago. He is the 39th Oba of Benin.

President Muhammadu Buhari and other prominent Nigerians have expressed sadness over the passing away of the highly revered traditional ruler of Benin Kingdom, Omo n’Oba n’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Erediauwa.
