MacKenzie Scott, the ex-wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has donated more than $4bn (£3bn) to food banks and emergency relief funds in four months.

As the coronavirus pandemic rages on, many companies have had to cut employees or close their doors entirely, but Amazon has upped its workforce by more than 50 percent from a year ago, The New York Times reports.

Amazon said Thursday that nearly 20,000 of its U.S. employees had tested positive, or had been presumed positive, for the coronavirus since the pandemic started spreading through the country this year.

The richest person in the world has got even richer, as the surge in Amazon’s share price saw Jeff Bezos becoming the first person to have their fortune break the $200billion barrier.

Jeff Bezos is so rich he can make $13.2 billion (£10b) in just 15 minutes without lifting a finger.
