There was riot in Ikorodu Monday morning following the tragic death of a student of C& S Primary School, Ogolonto who was knocked down by a BRT bus.
According to eye witness report, the student identified as Ezekiel Daniel, 17 was trying to cross the busy expressway when the BRT bus, popularly known as blue bus hit hm.
“The student was trying to cross the road, he was on the Zebra crossing when the bus hit him. The driver was on top speed and couldn’t stop the bus before crushing the young boy” an eye witness said.
Other BRT buses were stopped at the Ikorodu terminal and refused movement by officials of Primero, the operators of the BRT buses.
Angry residents took blocked the expressway in protest of the incident while men of the Nigerian Police were seen trying to restore order.
A commuter gave account “ I was at the BRT terminal when suddenly news came that someone had been knocked down by a BRT bus and as such, buses can no longer move. They (Primero officials) instructed their drivers to remove their uniforms and take cover”.
“Immediately, other commercial buses increased their fare by more than 100% knowing fully well that people have to get to work” She said.
The remains of the deceased has been removed from the scene.
