Ralf Rangnick made wholesale changes to his Manchester United side on Wednesday night against Young Boys with a number of fringe players getting a chance to stake a claim
Ralf Rangnick has expressed frustration at his Manchester United players for ignoring his instructions to play more direct against Young Boys.
The German coach made wholesale changes to his side on Wednesday night with a number of fringe players getting a chance to stake a claim as they were already safely through to the Champions League knockout round.
Mason Greenwood put the Red Devils in front with a brilliant acrobatic finish but Fabian Rieder’s stunning strike after a Donny van de Beek mistake meant it finished 1-1 at Old Trafford.
And Rangnick was upset at the goal United conceded as his players tried to play out from the back when he had instructed them to break Young Boys’ press by going more direct.

Speaking to BT Sport, he said: “What was really a little bit annoying was the way that we also gave the goal away, because we played too many balls into the first line of their pressing area.
“And this was also the case with the goal that we conceded. We could have cleared the ball easily and whenever we played the ball into the second or third line, we were always dangerous.
