Police in Ogun State have arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged hijacking of a truck-load of lager beer on the highway.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, who disclosed this in a statement issued in Abeokuta, said the stolen beer worth N2,714,000.

Oyeyemi said that the goods were stolen from Osun State by gun-wielding robbers and recovered at Ode-Remo in Ogun State. According to him, the truck was coming from Ilesa and headed towards Iragbiji in Osun.

The PPRO said a member of the robbery gang, Saheed Omotosho, and the receiver of the stolen beer, Mrs. Adijat Azeez, were arrested.

He said: “The arrest of the suspects followed a distress call received by policemen attached to Sagamu Area Command that a yellow truck was hijacked by three armed men while coming from Ilesa where he had gone to convey Trophy beer valued at N2,714,000 and that the vehicle tracking device indicated that the men were heading towards Sagamu with the truck.

The anti-robbery team of the Area Command later intercepted the truck on Sagamu-Ore Road where they demobilised the truck, blocked it and successfully apprehended one of the robbers while the other two escaped with their arms.”
