Osakpamwen Eriyo, a prominent All Progressive Congress (APC) youth leader in Edo State has been accused of snatching balloting boxes at the George Idah Primary School Ward Collation Centre in Benin City.
George Idah Primary School is situated along Ihama road, GRA, Benin City.
Osakpamwen, according to, eye witnesses led his men to the school while ward collection was going on, he first of all tried to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials to alter the results to favour APC. The move was however resisted by the PDP and INEC officials at the centre.
He was said to have brought out a gun and shot into the air. As a result of the commotion that ensued, he, along with his men were able to snatch all the ballot boxes and ballot papers used for the election.
While, he was still trying to snatch the voting materials, the PDP agents rushed to lock the gates to the school compound. On getting to the gate, Osakpanmwen instructed one of the Hilux vans on his convoy to knock the gate down.
Surprisingly, all the policemen at the centre made no effort to resist him.
Meanwhile, ionigeria.com gathered from sources within INEC that once results have been announced at the Polling Unit, they cannot be cancelled.
According to one of the sources, “as far as the results have been announced at the polling unit, anybody that goes to the collation centre to disrupt proceedings is just wasting his time”.
