Several Chelsea players are said to have tested positive for Covid-19. Frank Lampard had watched his side gain some momentum in pre-season ahead of the new Premier League campaign having brought in Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner and now Ben Chilwell.
The Blues are also thought to be on the verge of signing Thiago Silva and Kai Havertz, but their plans might need to be halted to avoid any further spread of the virus.
The players in question are said to have been tested at the end of last week before a potential return to training, and it continued the trend of a rise in cases across the division.
The west London club confirmed a number of players have tested positive for Covid-19 and are in quarantine to limit the threat of further spreading among Frank Lampard‘s squad.
Mason Mount, Tammy Abraham, Christian Pulisic and Fikayo Tomori are all reportedly in self-isolation under Government guidelines after they were pictured on holiday on the Greek island of Mykonos before pre-season training began last weekend.
It is understood the four players are yet to report for duty at Chelsea’s Cobham base to minimise the risk of any potential infection. It is not known whether Mount, Abraham, Pulisic and Tomori are among the stars who have tested positive. The Sun named the players as being in isolation.
