A 17-year-old senior secondary school student of Gateway School, Abeokuta has drowned while swimming in Ogun river in Abeokuta.

The body of the deceased was discovered gliding on the river at Lafenwa bridge on Monday morning.

The pitiful episode had happened on Friday, couple of minutes after the student came back from school to his family house at Ago Ika.

It was gathered that the kid left home looking for water from borehole tap at a place not long way from his home, from where he cleared out his friends for Ogun river.

Individuals from the deceased family from that point sorted out a search team for him without much of any result until the point when they were briefed by some of his friends two days after that he was going to Ogun river to swim.

They, accordingly, went to the bank of the river, where some boatmen hinted them that they have seen a body gliding on the river which shockingly ended up being the missing kid.

His remains have since been buried by his family.
