The Federal Government has postponed the 2020 National Sports Festival expected to hold in Edo State.
The Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare, made this known in a series of tweets on Tuesday.
He said the postponement was caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
“Following the briefing of Mr. President from myself and the Minister of State for Health on COVID 19, Mr. President approved the immediate postponement of Edo Sports festival to a future date,” he tweeted.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, said on Tuesday that a new case of Coronavirus came into Lagos through British Airways.
The affected person is a 30-year-old Nigerian lady, who returned from the United Kingdom on March 13.
The Ministry of Health said she is now at Mainland General Hospital receiving treatment.
Abayomi said passengers on the same flight with the UK-returnee should stay at home and self-isolate themselves for 14 days.
“Contact tracing of all passengers and all those who may have come in contact with this latest case has commenced,” he said.
