A dad has described his ‘speechless’ joy after his wife gave birth to a twin boy and girl who were delivered in different decades.

Two new parents have been left “speechless” after their twins were born 30 minutes apart – but in different decades.

Dawn Gilliam delivered little Joslyn at 11.37pm on December 31 last year and brother Jaxon came at 12.07am on January 1, 2020, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Carmel, Indiana, in the US.

“We’re kind of speechless still,” Father Jason Tello said on Friday.

“It’s been a ride, that’s for sure. It’s been a good ride.”

The newborns were actually not even due until February, but their concerned parents made a New Year’s Eve trip to the hospital due to concern about a lack of feotal movement.

“They were like, ‘You might have to deliver today,’ ” Jason told the Indianapolis Star.

Joslyn was born 4lbs 11ozs, and her little brother came into the world at 4lbs 5ozs.

The couple also have two boys, aged 10 and five, at home.

“She’s been in position for most of the pregnancy,” Dawn said of baby Joslyn.

She added: “Of course, he was breech. So, it took a while for him to come.”

“Earlier, we talked about it would be great to have them born on different dates,” Tello told reporters. “But here we are with this surprise – different dates, different years. That was definitely interesting for us for sure.”

“I guess it doesn’t click that, ‘Wow! We had two babies.’ I’m like, ‘Wow! There’s actually two,’” Gilliam told WBNS.

Joslyn and Jaxon were both on feeding tubes but were doing well, according to the station. They are expected to join their big brothers at home soon.

UNICEF estimates around 400,000 babies would be born around the world on New Year’s Day.
