Edo State Government is currently contemplating digital transformation of its operations in collaboration with Nigeria’s fully integrated telecommunications company, Globacom.
This was disclosed by Edo State Commissioner for Wealth Creation, Cooperatives and Employment, Mr. Emmanuel Usoh, who was a special guest of honour at the Benin edition of Globacom Stakeholders Forum on Wednesday night.
According to Usoh, Globacom has over the years demonstrated its commitment to delivering value to all categories of its stakeholders and also developing the country’s economy. He said the company has shown the world that a home-grown brand can compete favourably with brands from across the world.
He said the company’s massive infrastructure would be suitable to help Edo State transform many aspects of its operations digitally.
The Benin forum brought together Globacom’s key dealers and enterprise customers in the mid-western region of the country at Heritage Hotels, Benin City, where they were treated to sublime entertainment and showered with cash and other gifts.
The occasion was also used to launch Glo Yakata, a new tariff plan that the company said would transform the telecom market.
Yakata offers a whopping 2,200 percent value on all recharges, which can be used for data, text messages and voice calls to all networks. In addition, customers will enjoy special 250 percent extra data (up to 6GB) for six months so long as the first recharge of the month is 200 or more. For example, a first recharge of N200 will give the customer N900 for voice calls and 250MB data. Subsequent recharges of N200 in the same month will still give N900 voice value but only 100MB data.
Likewise, for a first recharge of N5,000, customer will amass N22,500 for voice calls to all networks plus a whopping 6.25GB of data. Subsequent recharges of N5,000 within the same month will still guarantee N22,500 for voice calls and data benefit of 2.5GB. The customer will enjoy this 6.25GB data on the first recharge each month for six months; that is, a massive 36GB of data over six months.
Speaking at the forum, Globacom’s Chief Retail Officer, Mr. David Maji, said that the forum was organised to bring stakeholders abreast of new developments in Globacom as well as hint them of the business plans the company has for them. According to him, the telecom company places a lot of importance on its stakeholders, especially dealers.
A whopping N5 million was won by 10 of the dealers selected in a raffle draw. The star prize of N1 million was won by each of Mr. Hanson Okuoimose, CEO, Nadal Heights System and Alhaja Monilola Yusuf of Sozabat Nigeria Limited.
Four dealers, Rose Siloko of Kumorose Communications System, Juvwe Igben CEO of Mega, Henry Nwankwo, MD of Liverpool Services Limited and Timothy Okafor of Godsmoonokafe Services Limited won N250,000 each.
The N500,000 cash prizes were won by Emmanuel Osaguona of Paradise Venture, Mrs. Nkechi Idugboe, CEO of Buytopups Communications Limited, the MD of Gusten Chris Telecom, Mr. Faith Egidi and Mr. Osaorobo Idemudia, CEO of Maxisoft Oil and Gas.
The Benin City forum completed the systematic stakeholder engagement Globacom commenced a couple of weeks ago. It has been held in Lagos for South West stakeholders; Abuja, for stakeholders in the North; Port Harcourt for stakeholders in the South South and Enugu, for those in the South East.
All the Glo dealers and enterprise customers who were at the event, went home with plasma television sets while cash prizes ranging from N1,000,000, N500,000 and N250,000 and N1m were won by scores of the stakeholders through raffle draw at those events.
