When did the government start approving the appointment of the Oba of Benin

    • Always been in the statutes! Who do you think, presents the staff of office? Not about tradition but by LAW

  2. Eghosa Ifeanyi-Madu

As if they have a choice

  3. You can now appointment an Oba of Benin?

  4. Congrats, nd long live nd may peace teign in ur tenure.

  5. He doesn’t have the right for that OK

    • I understand that The law empowers the governor to approve the appointment of monarchs in the state. The governor is not responsible for choosing the king but he has power to recognize. What I am not comfortable with is issuing the statement before the coronation. By tradition, he is the next Oba, he is not an Oba yet until all traditional ceremonies are completed

    • Who does? Bt has been approved by king maker b4 governor endorse

    • That means the governor don’t want to stay long because it’s giving by the oldest man in the kingdom don’t worry this is the great Benin kingdom where the king is truly king and the only kingdom in Africa

  6. Na formality sake, who is Oshi omo ole?

  7. So with the foregoing Edo state government can decide to hire and fire the Oba of Benin. Methinks this is very wrong that statement should be rephrased , it is disrespectful for the coveted position of the OBA of Benin.

  8. There is state law and there is traditional law and ceremony. Do not get it mix up.

  9. The has no power to reject him. So making a news is political.

  10. May his reign be peaceful with prosperity. The approval of a king is rested with God.
