Edo 2020: APC Consensus Agreement Collapses, Odubu, Ogiemwonyi Pick Nomination Form

Spread the love

The consensus agreement between governorship aspirants in Edo State All Progressive Congress (APC) faction loyal to Adams Oshiomhole has collapsed.

Consequently, Dr. Pius Odubu, former Deputy Governor of Edo State and Mr. Chris Ogiemwonyi, a former Minister of State have collected the governorship nomination form.

ionigeria.com investigation revealed that Odubu and Ogiemwonyi got infuriated when they discovered that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu secretly collected nomination form on behalf of the former Chairman of Oredo Local Government Area, Hon. Osaro Obazee, who is one of his staunch supporters.

It was further gathered that Ize-Iyamu’s action was a tactical move to checkmate Hon. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen who is allegedly being sponsored by Governor Godwin Obaseki but in taking the decision, he did not carry other aspirants who initially withdrew for him along.

It would be recalled that Odubu, Ogiemwonyi and Major-General Charles Airhiavbere withdrew from the race after a screening exercise which threw up Pastor Ize-Iyamu as a consensus candidate of the faction.

They pledged to support Pastor Ize-Iyamu against the incumbent governor during the primary election of the Party.
