President Muhammadu Buhari has been quoted as saying that he is not aware of any security threat in Edo State that should warrant the postponement of next Saturday’s governorship election.
This was disclosed on Thursday by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Pastor Osaze Ize-Iyamu while addressing his supporters in Benin City shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission announced its decision to ignore security advice and go ahead to conduct the elections as scheduled.
Ize-Iyamu said all arrangements have been made to ensure the PDP emerges victorious on Saturday.
He said God has given victory to the PDP and it was time to work for the victory.
His words, “We are on the threshold of history. The day we are waiting for is now. They tried to postpone the election using flimsy excuses but President Buhari said he was not aware of any security threat”.
