The Nigerian Army is set to conduct an exercise in areas affected by attacks by herdsmen, armed militias, kidnapping, cattle rustling and other forms of armed banditry.

These areas include Benue, Taraba, Kaduna, Kogi, Nasarawa, and Niger states. The exercise is named “Ayem-A- Kpatuma, a Tiv word meaning “Cat Race”. The Army said the exercise will end on 31st March.

The training became necessary following the unabating rise in attacks on innocent civilians in these areas. The exercise will serve as a training avenue for troops and dovetail into an operation to combat the armed attacks.
