Barely 24 hours after the gruesome murder of a couple and their three children at Olopomeji, Odogunyan in Ikorodu Lagos state by suspected ritual cult Baddo, nemesis has caught up with a member of the group, who was caught and burnt alive by an angry mob.
The suspect was apprehended at Ogijo area of Ikorodu on Wednesday.
According to Mr. Jorge, an Ogijo resident who confirmed the incident to ionigeria said the suspect was burnt alive by an angry mob made up of mostly frustrated youth of Ikorodu.
Recall that, residents of Ikorodu were enraged and demonstrated their frustrations through a protest yesterday shortly after the murder of the David family early Wednesday morning.
The family – Ike David, 50; Margret David, 28; Ike David (Jnr), 5; Matthew David, 4; and two-year-old Friday David– were reportedly attacked around 1am on Wednesday.
While the father, a motorcycle rider, Margret and Ike Jnr died on the spot, Matthew gave up the ghost at the Ikorodu General Hospital, where Friday, who had gone into a coma, was also admitted.
The victims were said to be from the Oju Local Government Area of Benue State.
With the Wednesday attack, the group had struck in Ikorodu three times within two weeks.
The dreaded Badoo Cult gang has caused a lot of havoc, sending whole families to their untimely graves is a fact that keeps staring residents of the area in the face, especially as security agents have found it difficult to nip the menace in the bud.
The gang, according to security reports, not only rape their female victims, but kill their them in the most dreadful way by using stones and pestles to batter the victims head and going away with the brain and blood.
In some instances, they are also said to slice open pregnant women and making away with the foetus of the unborn baby.
According to reports, hundreds of residents stormed the palace of the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, to express their anger over the incessant killings in the community.
One of the protesters, Jackson Ode, said it was time the monarch and government brought the menace to an end.
He said, “We want explanations on why Badoo operates unhindered. The killings must stop.”
A woman, Adewunmi Ojoge, said, “We have several factional Baales in Odogunyan. The kabiyesi (Ayangbure) said no representative from Odogunyan had come to his palace for discussion on Badoo attacks. He told us to be vigilant and that he had met with the relevant authorities on the way forward.”
Reacting, a spokesperson for the palace, who did not disclose his name, said the monarch had initiated actions to complement the efforts of security agencies in bringing the attack to an end.
